Welcome, I'm Alan C. Santos. Currently I work as a Talento "César Nombela" Researcher Fellow at the Institute of Fundamental Physics (IFF), from the National Spanish Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid.
I got my PhD in 2020, working with Prof. Dr. Marcelo Sarandy at Fluminense Federal University (Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), where I developed studies on Shortcuts to Adiabaticity with application in Quantum Computation and Information, Quantum Thermodynamics and Quantum Devices.
Since my PhD, I collected a number of international independent collaborations from different countries (China, Denmark, Ireland, Iran, Malaysia and Turkey), and I have kept them so far. I have applied my skills in different branches of quantum physics, namely, second generation quantum devices, quantum optics, atomic system, superconducting qubits, quantum computation, and among others. After my PhD defense I got a (2+1)-years position as a postdoctoral researcher at the Federal University of São Carlos, São Paulo, Brazil, where I worked at the group led by Dr. Romain Pierre Marcel Bachelard, in the Optics and Atomic Physics group. From February of 2022 to February of 2023, I worked as postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Physics in Stockholm University, Stockholm, Sweden, in the group led by Dr. Markus Hennrich. During my stay at UFSCar, I also had the pleasure of working closely with Prof. Dr. Celso J. Villas-Boas, who gave me the first opportunity to work as co-advisor of his master students (a pivotal learning experience). His honest and valuable guidance was instrumental throughout my stay there.
In 2024 I had the honor to move to the Quantum Information and Foundations Group (QUINFOG), as postdoctoral researcher to work with Prof. Juan José García-Ripoll. In 2025 I had the opportunity to start my own Junior Research group on Superconduting Quantum Devices and Computation, a subgroup in the QUINFOG IFF-CSIC, funded by the Talento Investigador “César Nombela” grant from Comunidad de Madrid.
In 2024, I had the honor of joining the Quantum Information and Foundations Group (QUINFOG) as a postdoctoral researcher, working under the supervision of Prof. Juan José García-Ripoll. In 2025, I was fortunate to begin leading my own Junior Research Group on Superconducting Quantum Devices and Computation, a subgroup within QUINFOG at the IFF-CSIC, supported by the Talento Investigador “César Nombela” grant from the Comunidad de Madrid.
